The core of these jeans is a 14.5 oz heavy Left-Hand Twill Denim made from high-quality Zimbabwe Cotton, woven on historic shuttle looms. The special left-hand weave not only ensures a comfortable and supple feel but also forms the basis for dynamic, high-contrast Vertical Fades as the jeans are worn further.

And this is where the FN-D111C becomes particularly interesting: the jeans already come with an elaborately hand-applied Real Aging Finish.

Real Aging – like years of wear, but from day one

THE FLAT HEAD takes an unusually elaborate approach to the aging of these jeans. UV-induced fading, abrasion, characteristic whiskers, and the different color gradations of jeans worn for years are individually reproduced by experienced craftsmen.

Various techniques such as bleaching, overdyeing, and individual shaving are used for this. The result is an authentic vintage look with a slightly grayish washed-out blue base color and striking contrasts – especially along the outseams.

The crucial point: the FN-D111C does not look like industrially pre-washed jeans. Instead, it conveys the impression of a pair of denim that already has a long history.

And yet, the story is far from over.

With every wear, the 14.5 oz Zimbabwe Cotton Denim further develops its own patina. The existing aging structure is thus linked to the owner's personal wearing history.

Details that make the difference

The FN-D111C features an iron button fly, original Flat Head rivets, and an additional concealed iron rivet on the back pockets. The pockets are finished with single stitching, while the heavily stressed areas are crafted with a robust two-needle chain-stitch wrap seam.

This traditional seam technique not only offers high durability but also develops the puckering typical of vintage denim through real aging – small waves and creases along the seams that give the jeans additional depth and character.

The used cowhide patch with Flying-Wheel motif is also one of those details that become more beautiful with increasing wear. The leather develops its own patina and thus becomes another part of the jeans' individual history.

Zimbabwe Cotton – Denim with Character

For the fabric, THE FLAT HEAD uses particularly long-staple Zimbabwe Cotton, which is one of the highest quality cotton varieties.

The 14.5 oz heavy Left-Hand Twill Denim is made from it on historic shuttle looms. The fabric combines robustness with a pleasantly supple feel and also has excellent prerequisites for characteristic Japanese Denim Fades.

The outseams also use the original selvedge edge of the shuttle-loom fabric – a small but important detail for denim enthusiasts.
