Copeland Denim Jacket “Pink” – Indigo Overdye

Pink. Indigo. And eventually, pink again.

The INDIGOFERA Copeland Denim Jacket was originally pink.

For this extraordinary special edition, we took the jacket together with Indigofera to Blaudruck Koo in Burgenland – one of the last traditional blueprint workshops – and had it hand-dyed in a genuine indigo vat.

What emerged is far more than just a new color.

It is a jacket with two layers of color and a story that only becomes visible as you wear it.

Indigo Overdye – True Craftsmanship

The Copeland Jacket was not simply thrown into a dye pot once.

The dyeing process is carried out entirely by hand and is extremely labor-intensive. The jacket is dipped into the indigo vat multiple times, oxidized, and then dyed again. Depending on the desired depth of color, this process can be repeated up to ten times.

This creates the characteristic, vibrant indigo, layer by layer.

And because this is genuine craftsmanship rather than industrial perfection, no two jackets are exactly alike.

Variations in color depth, slight clouding, shading, and irregularities are expressly intended.

Not a mistake. Not a defect. Just exactly what makes hand-dyed indigo so special.

And then comes the fading.

Beneath the indigo, the original pink dye of the Copeland jacket remains.

With every wear, the indigo begins to fade in the areas subject to the most stress. Seams, edges, sleeves, pockets, and other friction zones get lighter – and eventually, the pink begins to show through again.

The result?

A patina that no one can plan.

The longer you wear the jacket, the more individual it becomes. The indigo changes, the original pink reappears in different places, and over time, a unique interplay of indigo and pink colors emerges.

So you aren’t getting an artificially “distressed” vintage jacket.

You are getting the opportunity to develop your own vintage jacket.

A special edition from the LowDown

This indigo version of the INDIGOFERA Copeland Denim Jacket was created specifically for the LowDown and is strictly limited.

It is not part of the regular Indigofera collection and is offered in this version exclusively at the LowDown.

Each individual jacket was hand-dyed separately.

Each one is different. Each will age differently. And in the end, each one will tell its own story.

Please note!

The jackets were washed after dyeing. Nevertheless, slight color transfer may occur during wear. This is normal for genuine indigo-dyed denim and is part of the character of this dye.

Please be particularly careful with light-colored clothing, shoes, bags, or upholstery.

The occasionally irregular dyeing is also a conscious feature of this special edition and not a quality defect.

Indigo is alive. Indigo changes. And that is exactly why we wear it.
