With the FN-OJ-D101C 40s Denim Jacket – Real Aging, THE FLAT HEAD once again demonstrates how uncompromising Japanese denim culture can be implemented. The jacket is based on classic 1940s denim jackets and combines authentic vintage details with an exceptional 14.5 oz Left-Hand-Twill Denim made from Zimbabwe Cotton.

The special feature: The distinctive vintage look was not simply created by an ordinary washing process. THE FLAT HEAD reproduces the natural aging of a denim jacket worn for years through elaborate handcraft. UV-induced fading, abrasion, and characteristic differences in color intensity are intentionally replicated. This creates a jacket that looks as if it already has its own history from day one.

The slightly grayish faded blue base color, stronger fades on the collar, sleeves, and hem, as well as the preserved darker areas on seams and pockets, ensure an astonishingly authentic Vintage Denim Look. Even the metal parts have been aged accordingly and have a slightly matte, patinated surface.

THE FLAT HEAD – 40s Denim Heritage

Classic 40s Denim Jackets served as the model, whose characteristic details were implemented by THE FLAT HEAD with great attention to historical accuracy. These include robust iron buttons, original copper rivets, a high-quality leather patch, and the chain-stitch lap seam typical for vintage workwear in the important areas.

The heart of the jacket, however, is the extraordinary denim.

The 14.5 oz Left-Hand-Twill made from Zimbabwe Cotton is woven on historical shuttle looms. Due to its particularly long cotton fibers, Zimbabwe Cotton is one of the high-quality cotton varieties and allows for a denim that is simultaneously robust, supple, and comfortable to wear.

The left-hand twill of the fabric supports a particularly distinctive vertical fading structure. Those who continue to wear the jacket can therefore look forward to dynamic, high-contrast fades and a pronounced Japanese Denim Vertical Fade.
